Episode 93 - Fear is the Problem

When I first found out about life coaching, I remember hearing the phrase, “all problems are thought problems.”  I also believe we can take that a little further and say that all problems are fear problems.

There is a book called The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker. It is a fascinating read.  The author talks about how every creature on earth has this ability to predict danger–and get out of its way.  As humans, our brain is designed to keep us safe. We each have a basic survival skill or intuition within to help us to stay safe.  However, as humans in the modern world, we also struggle with a lot of unwarranted fear.  This is what I want to speak about today.

Episode 92 - The Power of the Pause

Recently, I was pondering on the idea of reacting vs responding and I believe the difference between the two is the pause.

Viktor Frankl said, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

When you use that space after a stimulus to pause, we give ourselves room to respond instead of react.

In this week's episode, I revisit what I call The Pause Principle--pausing to process, to ponder, and to protect--to help you as you move into 2024.

Episode 90 - Finding the Joy in the Now

In this week's episode, I am talking about finding the joy in the now.

Finding joy in the now is more than being present.

It is about soaking in the joy of the moment.

That sounds great when things seem awesome.

However, I know that this can seem difficult when where we are doesn’t seem that great.

We can’t imagine finding joy where we are and we want to do things that will move us through this moment as quickly as possible.

I get that.

There will be times we do just that.

However, I want to offer you some other ideas to think about what it means to finding the joy right now in this moment you are living.
