Thoughtful Thursday & The Truth Will Set You Free

THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE

Hello friends!

We have all heard the phrase, “Taking back your power.”

I haven’t always loved this because I didn’t really understand it.

But what I have come to believe it means is that we have control of ourselves.

We have control over our thoughts, feelings, reactions and how we show up in our life.

We are accountable and take responsibility for how we behave and who we are being.

In my podcast this week, Hyo North said something that just rang true to me.

She said, “The truth will set you free and it really does. It is uncomfortable to step into truth because truth is ugly sometimes. Truth is messy sometimes.  Truth doesn’t feel like love and faith and hope and charity and peace…

Being comfortable and accepting of exactly where you are is the beginning of being set free.”

The human experience is messy and painful sometimes—life happens.

It is in those messy and painful moments of life when I have grown the most.

In those moments when I am heartbroken because of another’s choice.

In those moments when I didn’t show up the way I wanted to.

In those moments when someone I love is struggling.

When I am honest with myself and my Savior about where I am spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically I open myself up to His healing and grace.

When we embrace the whole human experience as a classroom of learning, we can use our trials and struggles as our spiritual curriculum.

Our challenges don’t define us.

They are not evidence of our worth.

But they can be the means to something greater if we will let them.

Greater hope.

Greater faith.

Greater compassion.

Greater understanding.

Greater humility.

Greater kindness.

Greater empathy.

Greater love.

It all begins with being honest with where you are today so that you can create a path to where you want to go tomorrow.

Have a joyful week!
