Thoughtful Thursday & The Whole Truth

ON THE BLOG

THE WHOLE TRUTH

In this week's podcast, I wanted to dive into the topic of disappointing people, something I personally struggled with for a long time.

I used to believe that my only goal was to make everyone happy and avoid making them feel bad.

It may sound like a kind and caring mindset, but it was actually toxic and made me miserable.

This mindset led me to believe that managing other people's emotions was my responsibility, which ultimately resulted in me feeling resentful and not being entirely honest with them.

However, I've learned that it's not in my control to manage how others feel.

Everyone has the right to their own thoughts and feelings.

When we try to please others to make them happy, we often end up lying to them and ourselves, pretending and making assumptions about what they might think or say.

These assumptions create dishonesty and disconnection, which is not healthy for any relationship.

Being honest does not mean being blunt and saying whatever comes to mind.

To me, telling the whole truth is about being honest about how you think and feel about everything, not just the parts that bother you.

Telling the whole truth can be uncomfortable at first, but it allows us to show up as our true selves while giving others the freedom to do the same.

What would your relationships look like if you could tell the whole truth with love?
