Thoughtful Thursday & Curiosity is Key

ON THE BLOG

CURIOSITY IS KEY

In life, we often encounter situations that can trigger waves of emotions within us.

These emotions can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving us feeling helpless and without control.

However, it doesn't have to be this way.

Through my journey of thought work and mindfulness, I have discovered that curiosity can be the key to navigating through life's storms.

Curiosity can act as the paddles that guide us through the waves of unwanted emotions.

When we are ready to feel something different, questions can be a powerful tool to help us uncover the thoughts that are causing us to feel tossed around.

I find that there are three questions that are particularly helpful when I'm feeling caught in the waves of unwanted emotions.

The first question to ask yourself is, "What thought is causing me to feel this emotion?"

Recognize that it makes sense that you are thinking that thought.

We all have a unique lens through which we view the world, and our experiences and upbringing shape this perspective.

This isn't about judging the thought, but simply acknowledging it.

Next, ask yourself, "Is it true?"

More often than not, the thought you are believing is not true at all.

You may have held onto it for so long that it feels like the truth.

If this is the case, ask yourself, "What else is true?"

Focus on finding thoughts that feel better to think.

Finally, imagine a platter of thoughts that you could choose from.

Are the thoughts you are currently thinking ones that you want to pick up?

Or would you prefer to set them down and choose a different thought?

Recognizing that the thoughts we think create the emotions we feel allows us to choose our thoughts more intentionally.

By asking ourselves these three questions, we can take ownership of our emotional well-being.
