Thoughtful Thursday & Values

I am a certified faith-based life coach. I specialized in helping mid-life women and young adults of faith to create greater connection with themselves, others, and God. Helping them to become the creator of a life they love.

Have you ever really considered what your values are?

Author, Tanya Dalton, teaches that you want to create a core set of values that speak to your passions.

That inspire you.

That guide you.

That help drive the decisions you make.

Not just the large decisions but the seemingly insignificant ones you make every single day.

I didn't know what my personal core values were for a long time.

I had a general idea but I hadn't taken the time to really discover them or get clear on what they were.

Writing them down wasn't something I had really even considered.

When our values are vague and ambiguous, it is hard to live by them.

It is easy to get out of alignment with ourselves and make decisions that don't help us be the person we want to be.

You may find yourself saying "yes" to things that don't support your values or the life you want to create.

You may have missed out on opportunities that would have aligned with what you want in life but you weren't looking out for them.

Identifying your values is foundational for creating your ideal life.

These values help you understand yourself, your motives, and allow you to align with exactly what you want to create.

No value is better than another.

They are personal, unique and part of who you are.

When I took the time to do this exercise, I found clarity and meaning.

Here are my core values.

They help me focus on the person I want to be and are a guide to creating the life I want.

* Adventure * Clarity * Compassion * Confidence * Connection

* Faith * Fun * Personal Growth *Simplicity

Now, it's your turn!

Here are some questions to to help you begin exploring your values:

How do you like to spend your time and why?

What do you do to impact others in a positive way?

What are some meaningful things in your life? Why do they matter to you?

What are you passionate about? Why?

As you think about these questions, do you notice any common themes?

Next, search for "personal values" on the internet and you will be amazed how many there are.

Then, print the list out and start circling the values that correlate with your answers to the above questions.

Identify 6-10 values that speak to you.

How have these values played a part in things you have done in your life?

How will understanding these values help you create the life you want?

What do these values mean to you?

Are you ready?

Give it a try!
