Thoughtful Thursday & God’s Radical Love
Have you ever found yourself mentally tallying up your spiritual scorecard?
Counting missed scripture studies, moments of impatience, or passed-up service opportunities?
Today, I want to share a transformative truth that's been on my heart: God's love is radical, and it works differently than we might think.
The Nature of Divine Love
Consider this:
Divine love is present before we do anything.
It's unchangeable by our actions.
It doesn't wait for us to be worthy – it's already there, in full force, right now.
Scriptural Pattern of Divine Love
We see this pattern throughout scripture.
The father of the prodigal son ran to embrace him before any apology.
Jesus invited himself to Zacchaeus's home before any life changes.
He called Matthew while still at his tax booth.
He offered living water to the Samaritan woman before transformation.
The Four Principles of Radical Love
Love precedes transformation
Acceptance comes before change
Connection creates the space for growth
Grace leads to genuine transformation
How This Understanding Transforms Our Lives
We can stop striving to earn what's already freely given
Our relationships deepen as we love without agenda
Our parenting shifts from correction to connection
Our service flows from abundance rather than obligation
An Invitaiton
This week, I invite you to try something different.
When you catch yourself in "earning mode," pause and remember: You are loved, exactly as you are, right now.
Not because of what you do or don't do, but because of who you are – a child of God.
In these challenging times, understanding and accepting God's radical love becomes even more crucial.
It's through this lens that we can begin to heal, connect, and create positive change – both in our own lives and in our communities.
