Thoughtful Thursday & Don’t Be Afraid to Dance

ON THE BLOG

DON’T BE AFRAID TO DANCE

The memory of my four-year-old granddaughter, Mary Jane, dressed in a black and purple velvet witches costume with her plastic broom and pointed hat, is still vivid in my mind from yesterday.

She spent an afternoon with me at a witch-themed charity event that I was co-hosting.

All the women there were dressed up as witches in some way, and little MJ fit right in.

As part of the event, a group of dancing witches arrived for the pre-dinner entertainment.

MJ was immediately enamored by them and couldn't take her eyes off them.

I convinced her to come and check on something with me a little ways across the lawn from the witches.

She kept looking at them with fascination until the witches began to dance to the music from the portable speaker they brought with them.

Suddenly, without warning, MJ ran towards the dancing witches with her broom and hat in hand, feeling the music and letting it move her.

She enjoyed that moment to the fullest and she was thrilled we were there to see “her” show.

Life can be compared to a big dance, where the rhythm of the music is constantly changing.

However, as we grow older, we tend to become more self-conscious and worry about what others will think of our moves.

This fear can hold us back from experiencing the full joy of life's dance.

We might be afraid of making mistakes or feeling inadequate.

But we all have our own unique way of dancing through life.

We aren't meant to dance the same as everyone else.

So, let the music move you and embrace the moment.

Put on those dancing shoes and don’t be afraid to dance!

Have a joyful week!
