Thoughtful Thursday & Circumstances

One of the first concepts I learned about managing my mind was that circumstances are neutral.

This is a key piece to gaining awareness.

Circumstances are factual.

Without opinion.

Outside of our control.

There is so much power when we realize this.

Byron Katie said, "Circumstances are reality, and when you argue with reality, you lose, but only 100% of the time."

The world presents neutral things to us constantly.

We then choose how we will interpret them.

Positively.

Or negatively.

By divine design, we are presented with circumstances as part of our earthly experience.

It is all part of being human on the journey to becoming.

The circumstances are NOT the reason for our pain.

It is our thoughts about them that are causing us pain.

We will never win the battle against reality.

Eckhart Tolle teaches that the only power we have is in this present moment.

When we fight against reality, we lose in our present moment.

Some people believe that if they aren't angry or resisting, nothing will change.

I would offer that there is a better way.

Accepting the way things are does not mean we agree with them or condone them.

It just means we aren't trying to change something by pushing hard against it.

We can decide to start choosing to think less negatively.

We each have the power to create effective change from a place of peace instead of war.

We get to decide what everything means and how we will use the circumstances in our life to distract or serve us.

It is totally up to us.

This is such good news.
